Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman Exhibition

Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman Exhibition
For this project I was assigned an iconic chair, the Eames Lounge Chair, and asked to design a gallery space to exhibit it. Through researching the chair, the designers, and the work that they did, I decided that it would be fitting to design the space based on Mid Century Modern design, focusing on the Eames Lounge chair. In the exhibition, everything flows around the Lounge Chair and Ottoman, making it the emphasis of the space, as it rightfully should be. Every color and element of design is meant to complement the chair and give visitors an experience of all the important work that Charles and Ray Eames accomplished for design.

Concept Board
Staying true to the spirit of the Eames' designs, I focused on using primary colors, along with wood textures and natural colors such as brown, green, and gray. By putting a concept board together I expressed what I wanted the space to look and feel like and this helped me to develop an overall theme that I referenced all throughout the project.

Process Work

With bubble diagrams and parti diagrams, I decided on what the flow of the space would be. From there I moved on to developing a floor plan within the given space and setting the pieces of the exhibition in their proper places.
